Sewing

I recently started sewing with a friend of mine who retired from teaching. We have made several small projects. I'm constantly sending her pictures of things from Pinterest that I want to make. But this last project I tackled myself. I watched every video available until everything about it made sense to me. Well here you have it - my first necessary clutch wallet.

My Quilting Adventure

My friend, Carolyn, agreed to show me how to quilt. There's so many cute things to do. She has offered up some of her left over fabric and yesterday I made this pretty little pot holder.

Creative Juices

I still have a full month of vacation from work and I'm getting a little bored. I have some upcycle projects in the works to help me get over that: clothespins and candle holders that will become cake plates as soon as I find the right plates.

A Beautiful Shawl

I'm having a horrible flare up today but I still had enough strength to finish the picot edge in this shawl. It's my latest masterpiece.

Pozole Verde for Father's Day

Chicken pozole verde is not a common dish in my home; usually I make red and with pork. But since I decided at the last minute to make it for Father's Day I figured chicken would cook faster.
Pozole verde is basically chicken soup with puréed green ingredients to color and slightly flavor the broth. In this case I puréed spinach and cilantro with garlic. I forgot the tomatillo! Uyy! But it was fine.

End of Spring Semester

I passed my two classes. I swear going to school at my age is like having another full time job. I'm so glad that I had enough time in my sick leave bank so that I could take those 2 days off per week. I was able to get my homework done on those days.

Introduction to Topographic Maps

I am so glad that I found this video. I used it to study for my Geography test this Monday.

Filet Crochet

I went looking for a simple crochet pattern for a table runner the other day because my knitting student wants to make one for her daughter. I wound up finding this Spanish video on YouTube from "LaboresAngelika."
It's supposed to be a tablecloth if I decide to make and attach more squares. For now, I think I will keep just this one and move on to doilies.

Gradient Crochet Thread

Ooh! I purchased the last 4 skeins of this Katia crochet thread on clearance. The first thing that popped into my mind was to make a sample doily because the thread is so thin. I found an easy pattern from Crochet Jewel on YouTube and now I can't stop because the results are so awesome!

Christmas Angel Cross Stitch Continues

I finished my last knit project feeling a little unsatisfied with it. I don't even want to rip it back for the moment. I just wasn't in the knitty kind of mood so I picked up a cross stitch project that I started a few days ago and just kept at it taking advantage of the natural day light.

A Christmas Plate

I found two Christmas plates at TJMaxx that made their way into my shopping basket. The intention originally was to gift them to friends but I just couldn't part with them. My "solution" was to gift a plate to each one of my daughters - teehee. I have been using them more than they have.

Dodger Blue Baby Blanket

I finished that baby blanket and delivered it to my friend. I was able to memorize the pattern after a few rounds. This was the first time using this Anne Geddes baby yarn from Red Heart and probably my last as the yarn got very shaggy.
