Meg left today and it made us all pretty sad. Hopefully we all keep in touch.

Farewell Dinner

Just as we begin to feel cozy with our new guest, it's time for her departure back to Japan. My contribution for the potluck was herb roasted potatoes. There was plenty of other tasty dishes. The students made curry and rice for us.
We took her shopping for some after Christmas sale items afterwards at Kohl's.

No more excuses! I still have another week off and I have to put all of my patterns away in this binder.

We all pitched in to make noodles with some Chinese pickled vegetables.

It's raining and foggy this morning. I will have to stay indoors and do some knitting.

Our first fire

Well, more like the third, so far, this year. It's cold enough now.

Big Bear Mountain

We decided to bring the girls to Big Bear to go snow tubing.

Japanese Student

Wonderful feeling to have found a food item that she likes and is familiar with. Good ol' McDonald's.

$1200 Scholarship

I got a call on Monday from the college to let me know that I had won the $1200 scholarship. I had already forgotten how much it was originally when I applied. It goes towards my balance. Yikes, I need to pay my first down payment next week.
Today is my 25th wedding anniversay. 12-12-12 at 12 pm.

Spain, Here I Come!

I got my approval for my leave of absence from work so that I can go study abroad in Spain. I also received the letter from the college saying that my paperwork had been processed and to wait for further instruction. So, to me, that means  =  I'm going to Spain!! Yippy. I really need to get away from work for a while. Too much paperwork and not enough time, too many interruptions, yada yada.

The zipper on my knitting notions bag broke and I really liked that bag. It was given to me by my friend Becky. It is actually a travel bag, some sort of roll-fold into one piece with see through zippered compartments either for carrying lingerie or jewelry, but I like it and I looked in several different stores today including JoAnn's and Michaels for a bag that would work just the same way and no one had it. I still have to look in other stores, maybe I will get lucky.
