Sayonara

Meg left today and it made us all pretty sad. Hopefully we all keep in touch.

Farewell Dinner

Just as we begin to feel cozy with our new guest, it's time for her departure back to Japan. My contribution for the potluck was herb roasted potatoes. There was plenty of other tasty dishes. The students made curry and rice for us.
We took her shopping for some after Christmas sale items afterwards at Kohl's.

Spain, Here I Come!

I got my approval for my leave of absence from work so that I can go study abroad in Spain. I also received the letter from the college saying that my paperwork had been processed and to wait for further instruction. So, to me, that means  =  I'm going to Spain!! Yippy. I really need to get away from work for a while. Too much paperwork and not enough time, too many interruptions, yada yada.

The zipper on my knitting notions bag broke and I really liked that bag. It was given to me by my friend Becky. It is actually a travel bag, some sort of roll-fold into one piece with see through zippered compartments either for carrying lingerie or jewelry, but I like it and I looked in several different stores today including JoAnn's and Michaels for a bag that would work just the same way and no one had it. I still have to look in other stores, maybe I will get lucky.

My Spanish teacher gave me a packet with information on a semester abroad in Salamanca, Spain and after all the gathering and requesting time off from work I sent it in on Thursday!! I hope that all of the approvals are given and I shall be on my way in February.

A New Obsession

I've purchased a few containers of beads for some of Annelise's miscellaneous school projects and I have used some just to put on some knitting projects. I learned how to place beads from Laura Nelkin's blog.

Tasty Find

I bought this chocolate and chili sauce at Fresh and Easy. It comes very thick and you have to put it in the microwave for about 10 seconds and just pour it over your icecream. I used a tablespoon of it yesterday for some chicken with chile colorado so it tasted a bit like mole.

Mystery Shawl

Wow, the mystery shawl is done and I think the colors I picked are very pretty and it is very long. I'm afraid to completely soak it and block it because of the way the yarn is made. It's very wooly, so I just sprayed it and used my fingers to stretch it and it has alot of stretch.

It's coming along but I think a few more spritz and tugs and a few pins going around the dips will be better.

When I started to knit this shawl at the yarn store I had left my beads at home so I guess if I want to add some now I will have to sew them on with regular thread.
I have about 45 of these left over from Annelise's headband project - which we never finished.

Dog Goes Crazy from Thunder

My dogs hate the sound of thunder and this is what happened the other day when Nina got out of control. I haven't been able to get my husband to take down the topsy turvies and my dog did it in one evening.

I'm Going to School

I don't have any pictures of anything related to the title of this post. But as it states, I am now oficially enrolled in the Fall 2012 session of Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa, Ca. It was so easy from the registration, assessment, kick-off session for this program they put me in called Left Lane Project - to help me do better in school. Tomorrow I go for a 2 week Summer Bridge tutoring session from 9 -12 in the morning.

Wonderful Family Visit

My husband's aunt and uncle came from Mexico. They are very cheerful and very helpful. I had never met them in the 26 years that I know my husband. They have 8 adult children and most of them are in Utah, Oregon, Texas and Arizona. Soon they will be leaving to visit their children.

I got a free pattern with purchase from Redlands yarn Company. This is a ruffle scarf they call the potato chip scarf because you can't make just one.

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

On vacation, I think this will be the 4th week so far and I've been knitting a shawl from Craftsy.com. I'm so proud of myself because I can read charts and patterns now. I've been looking through alot of websites and finding so many nice things to make soon. I can't stop. It really helps keep my mind off my MS.

Celebrating my oldest sister's 50th birthday with my sisters and my brother and my mom.

Sunday, May 20, 2012

I didn't have anything to post other than I was so tired after I came home from work. I'll blame the new meds. Painkillers to be exact. I even nodd off watchng my favorite craftsy videos. I finally finished the purple scarf for Mrs. Campbell and yesterday I started this pretty green scarf. I got the pattern from a book of knit patterns I have had for a long time.

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

I started this cable scarf yesterday for one of the teachers. I actually knitted another cute pastel scarf 2 days ago and I didn't take a picture of it. I'm just making this one up as I go.

Fantasy Scarf

I learned how to put beads on my stuff and this yarn is great! It's the Deborah Norville cotton yarn in Serenity. I made this scarf for the health assistant's daughter, Sofia.
I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it finished and I gave it to her today. That was a big oops on my part.

Piles

I wanted to pick up cross stitch a few weeks ago and dismantled a work in progress that my daughter started and it still sits here on the end of a counter - which we moved from the kitchen table.

These are scarves that I finished - theres 3 of them waiting to be blocked into shape. These sit on the arm rest of the couch.

My new mound of yarn. Most of these skeins are recent purchases. I might need to get another basket or stop buying yarn for now.

Gustavo's attempt to get some work done. He brought this pile home from work about 2-3 weeks ago. This pile sits on the formal dining table.

Therapy

I went to get my class on how to inject my medication. All of the steps needed to create a sterile environment. the routine. I'm surprised it is not so difficult and not at all painful. I still have numb legs. The medication isn't really for that, it's supposed to slow down the progression of the disease.

Dr. Seuss Inspired Zig Zag Blanket

I just started this last night. The yarn was given to me by my old principal who had it stashed away in his office. It was left over from a class project when he was a teacher a long time ago. I too had it stashed away and decided it would make a lovely zig zag blanket.

Multiple Sclerosis

My neurologist answered my email and called me back. He confirmed that I now have multiple sclerosis. I just said "really?" I told him I figured something was up since I am not getting better. My left leg is always numb and there are times when my left leg is swollen and there are times when I can see my ankle bone and my shoe falls off that foot because it unswells all of a sudden. He said I have to make an appointment to see him so that he can show me how to take the medicine - shots, that I have to give to myself.

Zig Zag Blanet is Finished!

I finished Gustavo's blanket yesterday and he got to use it too. It was pretty chilly in the house. He fell asleep and that's when I put it on him. I tucked in all the loose strings today. I want to start another one!
