Mexican meatball soup aka "albondigas". I made some today with every veggie I could find at the store and I bought fresh ground meat from the corner butcher. My cilantro is almost gone but today I planted some coriander seeds in the pot-hopefully it grows.

Good Friday
Eva G. and I set off on a Good Friday adventure and we stumbled upon this procession. I got chills from watching it.

Cilantro!
Oh yeah! It is a big deal: cilantro flavors soups and salsas in Mexican cooking. I found this little pot at a grocery store and it is sitting on my desk in the window getting some wonderful sunlight.

Public Transportation
I finally got around to buying a bus card and got a pocket size route and schedules pamphlet. If I can tackle the Chicago Transit Authority bus and train system this shouldn't be a problem.
I have to say though it has been nice being able to get some excercise by walking everywhere.

Semana Santa en Salamanca
Yesterday we had a presentation about the holy processions held throughout the city. The procession we were going to see was cancelled due to rain. Hopefully I get to see one this week.

A Pleasant Walk
The weather today was just right for a stroll after class. Normally I would head straight home to warm up. I took a different route and here are a few snapshots of the view.

Toledo
Today I went with another group to the city of Toledo. It rained a little bit but I enjoyed the entire tour and the free time.

Time to Give Thanks
English class was cancelled yesterday so on my way back home I changed my route and saw a church. I asked a lady if there was a service soon and she confirmed there was a service at 12. I stayed for the whole mass. It had been a while since I had been to Catholic service and I truly enjoyed it and felt comfortable and relaxed at the end.

Avila
We enjoyed the day trip on Friday to El Escorial and Avila. The guide, Miguel, explained in great detail the history of the Palace at El Escorial. We later went to the small town of Avila to walk the wall which was very nice.
The street that leads to the estate looks like marble! |

Lunchtime
Steffie and I enjoyed a lunch together today. My breaded chicken combo was very delicious. We also found a yarn store today!
